I want to buy a 92-95 Civic, or 97-01 Integra GSR, and it’s just impossible
doens’t matter if you have cash to throw at the problem, there’s just not any good ones to buy!*
*unless I import one, and I can’t be carless for that long

They often have integras. They actually have a civic on there now I think.
Throw your money....

Just find one that’s already been imported? I’ve already see a decent amount of RHD EG civics in the States for sale.
But yes, it is impossible to find either one that isn’t trashed or stupidly modified.

ok, sure. BAT is an option, for unrealistic money.
not so much with the reading tho... both are outside the years listed

Well, now... but if you look at previous auctions, you can find what you are looking for.

You have to be willing to travel to a place that has them. https://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/cto/d/1997-honda-civic/6532078759.html

There are cars for sale in California, so money solves the issue if you can travel that far to get it.

Go earlier. I can pick this up for you, it’s just a little drive from me.

I have money, but not money to “waste”
time off work, and flights, and gas home, and risk. doesn’t feel worth it.

Sorry. lots of them around here

OkY the one I posted was the wrong gen, but here’s a clean “low mileage” Teal EJ2 https://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/ctd/d/1993-honda-civic-ex-coupe/6542778246.html
And a very nice navy blue hatch https://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/d/1995-civic-hatchback/6541943319.html

because FREEDOM!
the US, most/many states have NO road worthiness checks.

You want to BUY one? I thought those were only acquired through theft.

I want a GSR because of it’s engine, why would I want one with the wrong engine and a turbo?
not sure you understand my complaint here. I want one that isnt already ruined.

Not worth it for a civic.

kinda part of the problem. my last civic was a perfect build! thefterized from the new owner.
hmm... I should text him and see if he still owns the shell

Looks like a nice shell: https://rockford.craigslist.org/cto/d/1992-honda-civic-dx-hatchback/6526991379.html
Looks great, not $9500 worth of great though: https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/d/1993-honda-civic-cx-less/6529690661.html
Again, looks great, not sure about price: https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/d/1993-honda-civic-si-hatchback/6535376219.html
Doesn’t seem too terrible, reversible at least: https://racine.craigslist.org/cto/d/1993-honda-civic-si-hatch/6537171013.html
I feel like this is a steal if you can do some work yourself: https://madison.craigslist.org/cto/d/2001-acura-integra-gs-needs/6511615186.html
Not a real GSR, but seems reasonable on price: https://madison.craigslist.org/cto/d/2001-integra-gsr-rust-free/6509860495.html

Very likely the underside still looks great.
Body rust =/= mechanically junk.

That’s just shocking.
The FREEDOM thing only goes so far. Lol.

That would still get taken off U.K. roads, risk to pedestrians, structurally unsound, and so on and so forth.
![]() 03/26/2018 at 16:52 |

Why do you want a 97-01 GS-R, the ‘95 is the year to have since it’s OBD-1 (and I had one).
![]() 03/26/2018 at 16:56 |

Risk to pedestrians?
![]() 03/26/2018 at 16:59 |

97+ becuase I want OBD2 :D
actually, ‘01 would be the dream, becuase it was the only year that also had a immobilizer. which is neat
![]() 03/26/2018 at 17:00 |

in a unibody it does. you KNOW the suspension pickup points on that are crap too

You see rusty body panels too far gone to save.*
I see a legit excuse for ridiculous fender flares for that Kanjo racing theme.
*If the frame is rusty beyond safe, then fuck it, salvage all other parts and find a cleaner shell to put them into.

yeas! kanjo loop racers are like the epitome of function over form becoming it’s own beautiful form

If a member of the public should get too close they are like to cut themselves, say walking between two parked cars to get to or from their own in a car park, etc...

I took this picture at the grocery store Sunday morning. These old Crysler minivans pretty much all look like this now.

In the U.K. that would certainly be an MOT test failure and wouldn’t be allowed back on the road.
Even if it happened sometime between the yearly tests.
There is still a high likelihood it’ll be seen by a police officer, Highways Agency (Highways England) officer or Vehicle Inspectorate (VOSA) officer, that can restrict it from going any further and order it off the road till it’s repaired.
![]() 03/27/2018 at 05:52 |

cut the panels out and replace with fibreglass.
that way, no more rust.
![]() 03/27/2018 at 06:52 |

I would say they should be watching where they’re walking?

That was a 3rd/4th gen thing. I can find pretty clean/clean 1st/2nd gens, but all the 3rd/4th gens look like this, no matter how well they were taken care of.
![]() 03/27/2018 at 06:54 |

Maybe, maybe not. You can’t know without looking. ASS-uming they are you are likely missing out on some great deals.
![]() 03/27/2018 at 08:16 |

I will take your word on that, because I never see 1st or 2nd gens anymore. You are definitely the resident expert here. But yeah, all the 3rd and 4th gens look like this.

I have students dropped off every morning in vans that look just like this. That, I must say, pisses me off. I don’t care if someone wants to make a rusty cheap POS into their work can, because they’re only jeopardizing themselves. It pisses me off when people put their family into a vehicle that will wad up like a beer can in an accident.
![]() 03/27/2018 at 10:06 |

Problem with the 1st/2nd gens is NO ONE took care of the transmission maintenance, leading to early trans failure. Combined with faulty bad trans diagnosis from shops, many of them got scrapped early due to “bad trans”, which many times was as simple as bad fluid/filter, or a bad solenoid pack.
I’ve bought quite a few early 90s Mopars with “bad transmissions”, get them home, swap fluid/filter/pack, and drive them another 100k without issue.

It’s also how that ‘beer can’ would behave not just for the occupants but other people involved in the incident.
Cars are designed to behave in a almost desired fashion in an accident to protect all parties involved. Put a car that would behave like Swiss cheese into the equation and you’ve got a higher occupant injury or death rate, you’ve also got sharp edges that are likely to become airborne and act like knives or flying shrapnel. It’s not just about the owner and the car, but how that car will interact with others. The ‘I’m alright Jack, this is my car I’ll do what I want’ thing isn’t and can’t be a thing.

They’re even thin on the ground here in flyover country. There is a cleanish 1998 GSR that looks like it just needs a new nose and this spectacular... mess that looks like it would be a horrible choice, but the price is right anyway...
![]() 03/27/2018 at 16:44 |

I spent today expanding my search to places that are within a day’s roadtrip, so I actually already saw that GSR.
and that spectacular mess, CLEARLY an auto, despite saying manual. the stick is hiding, but the cluster is auto and theres no clutch reservoir
